Office / Work

It's going. People keep asking me how's it going but not much is happening in terms of "progress" of the report I'm making now. But lots of fun though, my collegue (supervisor) took me to Ingersoll and Norwich yesterday and we took some pictures of downtown. Ingersoll has a big suzuki-GM auto plant and it was pretty. We also drove by Menonite people's farms and houses and it was interesting too.

Menonites are the group of Christian people who believe in certain values that they try to live in the same way as people in 200 years ago did. I'm not sure but I heard that many of them are from Germany. They look similar to Armish for us, but I'm sure Menonite would be upset if we think they're the same. But they look kinda similar; they use baggy cart with horses, wear mostly black&white clothes (women dress in colour sometimes), and live in the world of no-electricity and no-automobile. Most Menonites do farming for themselves and sometimes sell their products to non-Menonite people. Some are more "liberal", and they drive cars (but they paint them in black), but some are "conservatives" who would rip the rubber off from the baggy wheels they're using. It's just unbelievable how those people and the communities survive. As an economist, I also wondered if they are included in Census or Family Expenditure data. I doubt if they've ever voted for any election. anyway, just second thought.

Norwich is even smaller town than Ingersoll. Godfather's pizza (the chain pizza restaurants in Canada which mostly operate in small towns--if you ever find this Godfather's pizza, you know you are in small town, where pizza hut decided not to invest), other local shops and nice clock tower just beside post office. You really feel like predominantly white / Dutch culture is still alive there.

Anyway, I shouldn't write too much... wasting my time very well.
